How to Write an Outsourcing Business Plan | Live2Sell Group of ...

The task of creating an outsourcing business plan can be pretty daunting, especially for a business owner who?s just getting his feet wet in integrating business process outsourcing (BPO) services into his business. There are a lot of variables involved that you have to mull over carefully before you make any decision.

outsourcing business planIf you?re seeking for ideas that can help you create a roadmap that will, to some degree, serve as a guide and govern the path of your business for the coming years, then you?re in for a little treat. Live2Sell gives you our compact, general guidelines to writing your own outsourcing business plan.

Keep It Simple

Your business plan doesn?t have to read like a scientific formula to get you from point A to point B. It doesn?t have to be complex or confusing. All you need is a simple document that defines your vision ? what you want to achieve and how to achieve them. It also has to be a solid and scalable plan.

Spend Time on Brainstorming

This is the crucial stage where half of the battle is won, so to speak. Before you put ink to paper, or start pounding on your computer, it?s good to sit down, consult with your team, and make some notes. Don?t limit yourself to your usual, standard business plan. Try thinking outside of the box.

When you?ve gathered everything you need, you?re ready to proceed to start writing the plan. This typically involves the following:

  • Executive Summary. This sums up all the information contained in the document.
  • Business Overview. It covers everything about your business.
  • Management. Indicate here the key players behind your business.
  • Target Market. Who are your targeted consumers? Where to reach them?
  • Sales and Marketing. This outlines your specific strategies to connect and reach out to your targeted customers. Since you?ll be partnering with an outsourcing company, this will be the part where the outsourcing team (call center agents, sales teams, or appointment setters) comes in.
  • Financial Statements and Projections. You can either do this on your own to create your own financial plan ? how much you need to get started and what your sales and profits projections are in a certain time period ? or you can hire an accountant to do this for you.
  • Supporting Documentation. Supply any necessary documents relevant to your business.

Review Your Business Plan

Take your time to review your outsourcing business plan before you proceed to executing them. Treat the plan as a learning tool to help you understand your business better and how to further improve it. Now comes the proverbial ?retain everything that?s useful and reject those are not.?

Keep in mind that your outsourcing business plan should only serve as a roadmap that will guide you to attaining your objectives, not a commandment written in stone. It should work to facilitate your decision-making and the dynamics of your entire business operation.

Select the Right Outsourcing Partner

This is the part where you look for the missing piece that will complete the puzzle ? your business outsourcing partner. Depending on your specific business needs, whether you?re seeking for the right call center outsourcing company, a telemarketing partner, or a sales lead generation vendor, be sure to choose the one that has the technology and competency to represent your business. Choose a partner that shares your business outlook and core values in attaining your business objectives.

Researcher attacked by chimpanzees in South Africa identified as Texas graduate student

JOHANNESBURG - An American researcher mauled by chimpanzees in South Africa has been identified as a graduate student in Texas studying anthropology.

Andrew Oberle was in critical condition Friday after undergoing surgery near Johannesburg. Officials say the 26-year-old was giving a lecture Thursday at the Jane Goodall Institute Chimpanzee Eden when two chimpanzees grabbed his feet and pulled him under a fence.

Oberle is a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The school said in a statement Friday that "our hearts go out to Andrew and his family."

Officials in South Africa say Oberle had "multiple and severe bite wounds" and was dragged nearly a half-mile by the chimpanzees.

States In No Hurry To Implement Health Insurance Exchanges ...

Most states have been lollygagging on creating the health insurance exchanges, ie, government sponsored insurance plans that include government mandates on coverage offered through governmentally approved insurance companies that everyone and every company must move to if they make any changes to their existing plans, and plan on continued lollygagging

(WRAL) North Carolina lawmakers said Thursday that they have no plans to meet a deadline to create a new one-stop shop to help individuals and small businesses find affordable health insurance despite a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

State Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger said senators do not intend to take up legislation to create a health benefit exchange before they adjourn next week. The 2010 federal health care overhaul requires all states to have an exchange. Legislation passed the state House last year.

State plans for the markets are due to the federal government by this fall. The federal government will create exchanges for states that don?t have them by 2014. Only 14 states and Washington, D.C., have adopted a plan for carrying out the law creating exchanges that steer middle-class households to private plans.

In fact, while some 14 states and DC have plans to create exchanges, almost none have actually implemented those plans.

(Wisconsin Radio Network) Despite the Supreme Court upholding the law, Governor Walker says Wisconsin will not take any action to implement health care reforms until after the election. He says the legal challenge was only the first step, and Republicans reclaiming the White House and Congress could still stop if from taking effect. Walker says ?only after each of those two has been exhausted will we consider what the state will do.?

That sentiment is echoed by many, many states. Missouri residents voted once to say Heck No!!!! to Obamacare in 2010, and will vote again come November on the ballot, so the state is doing nothing to implement any Obamacare measures.

Then you get stuff like this

(LA Times) California?s new insurance exchange is seeking about $190 million in additional federal money as it prepares to help millions of consumers shop for health insurance.

That?s on top of the hundreds of millions Brokeifornia is already appropriating to this crazy law.

(Civsource) Two of the biggest states in the union ? California and Florida are moving forward with plans to build health care exchanges. California has chosen Accenture to build out its health exchange ? CalHEERS, the biggest system and biggest contract award of its type in the country. Florida is choosing Xerox for its efforts.

Actually, Florida is unsure how they will proceed. Here?s where it gets really good

The (California) contract includes about $183 million for the initial development and implementation of the system. Another $176 million will be paid out over the remainder of the three year contract for later phases of the build out. The state estimates that approximately 4.4 million residents will have been helped through the project by 2016.

In Florida, Florida Health Choices, a corporation established by the state to improve access to health care, has selected Xerox (NYSE: XRX) to administer its Insurance Marketplace. The nine-year contract is valued at $68 million.

Sure seems like it?s costing quite a bit of money at both the state and federal levels just to set up the exchanges, eh? I thought this was supposed to save money. Should be interesting to see how much it actually costs to run them. And all on top of massive tax increases on the middle class.

Theater Review: 'Closer Than Ever' | Theatre | Arts & Entertainment ...

A delightful revue

\>");

NEW YORK?Here?s a tune-filled and emotionally rewarding musical that tickles and delights, warms the heart, and sometimes injects a bittersweet edge. The York Theatre Company is responsible for this first New York revival of Closer Than Ever, lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr., who also directed the production; music by David Shire.

Originally produced at downtown?s Cherry Lane Theatre in 1989 to critical raves and audience enthusiasm, the present production more than echoes its earlier success.

Closer deals with those events and relationships in one?s life that we all experience?love, friendship, regret, joy?but it is the superior talent and craftsmanship of the Maltby and Shire team that puts this show well above the level reached by many other shows of its type.

Of the cast of four, not enough can be said in praise. The performers are highly individualistic, bringing their own points of view to the particular song or more accurately, musical story, they are singing and telling. While there are numerous group numbers, each performer is given one or more solo showstoppers.

For example, although Jenn Colella initially shows us the fa?ade of the proper, sedate secretary in Miss Byrd, the character soon lets us in on her heretofore hidden, passionate nature and her secret life. Colella, who has terrific bite and presence, also shines in You Wanna Be My Friend, in which she complains to her boyfriend that mere friendship is not what she has in mind, and inasmuch as her name is on the lease she will handle the problem.

Lovely Christiane Noll warmly delivers a moving Life Story, an involved and involving description of an entire marriage, which ends in divorce. Ending each stanza with the line ?I?m not complaining,? the song?s conclusion of pained regret gives the lie to this clich?.

Sal Viviano in One of the Good Guys, demonstrates inner conflicts that may reside in the minds of people who seem to ?have it all,? leaving the singer and audience in a state of bittersweet regret.

Patterns gives Noll the opportunity to display her gifts in the story of a woman who unexpectedly meets tragedy.

In If I Sing, George Dvorsky, in a rich baritone, displays an autobiographical segment of composer Shire?s relationship with his late musician father, who imparted his talents to his son. Powerful in its very simplicity, this song is arguably one of the evening?s most moving segments.

In Fandango, a two-career couple, played by Christiane and Sal, thrashes out the near-universal problems of who?s going to take the baby that day when each has important job requirements to fulfill.

Back on Base gives an opportunity for Jenn to have a playful interplay with bass player Danny Weller. Incidentally, the show?s accompaniment is supplied, but very effectively, by only two musicians, the bass player and pianist/music director Andrew Gerle.

There are other songs, making mention of weddings, friendship, and more. Maltby?s lyrics are witty and rich. (Incidentally, on If I Sing, composer Shire shares writing chores with Maltby.) Needless to say, Maltby?s direction is terrific, and not to be overlooked is Kurt Stamm?s choreography, whose work brings the singer-actors to their feet very skillfully.

Scenic design by James Morgan is spare and effective, featuring doors that figure in the show?s opening number, Doors.

Nicole Wee?s costumes are both individualistic and meld into an effective whole.

Closer Than Ever makes for a delightful evening?s entertainment.

As EU meets, euro hangs in the balance

A poster depicting euro notes is seen through a broken window in a money transfer shop in Athens, Greece. European leaders meet Thursday to try prevent the shattering of their common currency.

By John W. Schoen, Senior Producer

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Here in the heart of the bureaucracy overseeing the eurozone, officials publicly concede the future of the common currency is at a crossroads.

Privately, some are acknowledging that the plan to bind Europe even closer together may be nearing the end of the road.

On Thursday, European Union leaders will gather for two days in another last-ditch effort to head off Greece's departure from the monetary union, an outcome all sides insist would spell?economic?and?financial?chaos?for Greece, threaten the rest of the eurozone and perhaps pressure the rest of the global economy.

But any hoped-for resolution of the crisis will have to wait. Greece's newly-elected prime minister, Antonis Samaras, has been sidelined from the meeting for health reasons. EU officials have delayed an audit of Greece's progress on economic reforms that must be completed before the next installment of financial aid is transferred to Athens.

The crisis entered a new, more worrisome chapter Monday following Spain's formal request for?rescue loans to backstop banks laden with bad debts due to a housing collapse. Some market economists believe the rescue appeal could represent the early stages of a wider request for a full bailout for the Spanish government, which saw its borrowing costs soar above 7 percent early last week.

The cost of such a Spanish rescue would be an order of magnitude bigger than the Greek bailout and raise the prospect that Italy, Europe's third largest economy, could soon follow suit, stretching the monetary union to the breaking point.

The European experiment may have been doomed from the start.?The massive debt burden now crushing southern economies followed the creation of a common currency that allowed them to borrow cheaply with no central European government to control taxation and spending.

Now, after two years of unsuccessful efforts to convince 17 sovereign nations to cede control of their budgets to Eurocrats in a distant capital, the financial markets are revoking that cheap credit line. Euro zone officials here insist they can still create the political union that will solve the problem ?- a task roughly equivalent to laying a foundation under a house that?s already been built and occupied.

?There is an undermining of trust among the main players in the process of European integration that is very difficult to mend,? one senior adviser at the European Commission told a group of American reporters in?a background briefing last week. ?There is a sense of an unease spreading. And there is a risk as everyone is searching for scapegoats. The economies are not improving."

The immediate concern centers on the latest round of brinksmanship over tough austerity measures imposed on Greece in return for continued financial help from the rest of the euro zone.

More than two years and 20 summit meetings after first grappling with the unfolding economic crisis, the latest standoff between Greece and the rest of Europe is shaping up as a last-ditch effort.

"We are doing everything to give the euroa future,? German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters after a meeting with other leaders in Rome Friday. "We are fighting for the euro."

Deepening divide
But with discord among Europe's leaders deepening, time may have finally run out.

The latest crisis has widened already-deep divisions. Officials from the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund ?- the so-called troika ?- were to have reviewed Athens? progress this week on a list of bailout conditions before EU ministers assemble here for the summit to decide whether to write the Greeks another check. That review has been postponed indefinitely.

The newly-elected Greek government, which will burn through its latest bailout check in a matter of weeks, is widely regarded as too fragile to endure, let alone uphold the harsh measures that have driven the Greek economy to the brink of collapse.

With unemployment soaring and their economy in a deep depression, Greek officials said Saturday they will seek to repeal some taxes, halt layoffs and extend by two years the deadlines for tough austerity measures imposed under its international bailout agreement.

?In those two days in Brussels, we will carry out a major battle for revision of the loan and negotiate a framework that will boost recovery and the fight against unemployment,? said Evangelos Venizelos, head of the socialist PASOK party.

German officials are in no mood to let Greece off the hook. Merkel has said there can be no "rebates" on bailout terms for Greece. Finance Minister Wolfgang?Sch?uble has insisted that Athens must live up to the promises made when it agreed to accept the eurozone?s financial lifeline.

"(Samaras must) enact the program agreed upon quickly and without further delay instead of asking how much more others can do for Greece," Sch?uble told Reuters Sunday.

Tensions rising
The rising tensions among Europe?s leaders are also spreading among voters from Berlin to Brussels to Athens.

Having so far dodged the recession sweeping across the continent, Germans have been ?crisis winners,? according to economist Friedrich Heinemann at the Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim. As capital has fled debt-ravaged southern Europe to the safe haven of Frankfurt, falling interest rates have sparked a building and housing boom, kept a lid on inflation and helped boost German wages for the first time in over a decade.

Germany has become the de facto backstop for the faltering economies. It has contributed the bulk of the 890 billion euros ($1.1 trillion) in loan guarantees and bailout funds for Ireland, Portugal, Greece and now Spain -- the latter by far the largest economy to date to ask for help.

But Germany?s export-reliant economy, which depends heavily on continued strong demand from its troubled southern neighbors, is now slowing.

For their part, German voters are growing weary of their role?as financial backstop and are losing patience with bailouts that appear to have no end in sight.

?We are a European community and we belong to each other," said Reinhard Schniel, a project coordinator at the?Institute of Physics and Technology in Braunschweig. "We depend on others economically and in many other senses -- you can?t abandon your partners, your family. But we don?t see the political and economic mechanisms to make these countries change.?

Germans are deeply ambivalent about their new role. Memories are still fresh of the two world wars that resulted from the ambitions of past German leaders. But as Europe?s largest benefactor, Germans aren't eager to cede decisions to Brussels.

?Itsbasically the same kind of issue as back in the good old Boston Tea Party days -- ?No taxation without representation,?? said Timo Klein, an economist with IHS Global based in Frankfurt.?

For their part, Greek voters have little patience with what they see as Berlin?s relentless scolding over a crisis that was many years in the making and has helped boost the standard of living for the average German worker.

Mary Linos, anGreek IT student studying in Brussels, saw Germany defeat Greece last Friday in the?Euro 2012 soccer match. Linos, wrapped in the blue and white stripes?of Greece's flag, watched the game?with her friends at the Ethnic Caf?, just off the city's Grand Place.

?It?s not just the money,? she said, as the crowd booed when the big screen flashed a shot of Merkel sitting in the stands. ?We need help with experts to fix the problems. Germany has seen this happening for years now and has done nothing. Germany has also made a lot of money from Greece?s problems.?

Under construction
Europe?s fledgling central government -- still under construction after 22 years -? has been unwilling or unable to impose solutions.

In Brussels, a sprawling cluster of gleaming new buildings is dotted with construction sites that bristle with cranes still busy expanding the office space needed for more bureaucrats, lobbyists and journalists. They are trying to create a political culture here familiar to any American living within the Washington Beltway. But much like the vast Brussels headquarters complex, the architects of the grand vision to unify a continent of more than two dozen cultures, languages and sovereignties embarked on the plan with long time horizon. Europe's weaker economies can't wait that long.

Just as the American political system has lost its capacity to find compromise, the European experiment with the euro is faltering after repeated efforts to forge consensus. Despite repeated calls for tighter political union, the eurozone remains a loose collection of?states with a history of conflict that stretches back centuries.

Even as some here blame Athens for dragging its feet, for example, the European Commission itself continues to resist implementing a long list of reforms.

Member states still make their own tax and spending policies, borrowing to make up shortfalls without regard for the wider financial impact on the eurozone. Labor laws and social programs are set for each country by individual governments, producing economic imbalances that are exerting mounting pressure on the currency binding the group together.

Unlike their U.S. counterparts, European bank regulators have no authority to shut banks that are bleeding money, creating the risk that bailouts of so-called ?zombie? banks are simply throwing good money after bad.

The obstacles to these reforms date at least to the formation of the monetary union. Some are much more deeply-rooted. The creation of a common political system has been heavily impeded by the nationalism reflected in the distinct cultures and languages of European states.

As finance ministers hastily assembled to consider the latest backstop for Greece last week, for example, the top item on the agenda was a recent poll showing that the number of Europeans who know a?language other than their own has dropped slightly in a decade, from 56 percent?to 54 percent. The most common second language is English, although England is not a member of the monetary union.

EC officials acknowledge the scope and depth of what is being demanded of Athens.

?The changes we're expecting overnight are changes that are usually made over a generation,? said Ioana Diaconescu, an EC economic analyst.?

Risk, industry pulse taking, heat, training ... - Workers Comp Insider

Risk news from the front line - Louise from Colorado Health Insurance Insider posts the 160th Cavalcade Of Risk - Colorado Wildfire Season Edition and as per her signature style, she does a great job hosting. Our thoughts go out to her and everyone in Colorado, who are living out a real-life risk scenario this week. Over 32,000 people were evacuated from the path of the Waldo Canyon Fire near Colorado Springs and the U.S. Air Force Academy on Tuesday night, which is just boggling. There are some dramatic photos on BuzzFeed. You can also follow on Twitter #waldocanyon.

Industry pulse - Robert Hartwig is the president and chief economist of the Insurance Information Institute. His industry observations are well worth tracking so we point you to his his midyear Workers' Compensation update, where he tracks significant developments and issues both on the national and the state level. And because workers' comp is only the stubby little tail on the very large dog that is the property-casualty industry, we also recommend his Insurane Industry 2012 - First Quarter Results, of which we offer this brief excerpt:

Through the first three months of 2012, private sector employers added an additional 678,000 workers (and a total of 847,000 through May). Overall payrolls, the exposure base for workers compensation insurance, now exceeds its pre-crisis peak. During 2011, the unemployment rate ranged from a high of 9.2 percent in June to a low of 8.5 percent at year's end. By March 2012, the unemployment had dropped still further to 8.2 percent.
Despite extreme economic pessimism through much of the past two years, including the past several months of 2012, the economy appears to have successfully avoided a much feared and often discussed "double-dip" recession. Although real GDP growth came in at a disappointing 1.9 during the first quarter, economic growth is projected to reach 2.1 percent for full-year 2012 and 2.4 percent in 2013, according to Blue Chip Economic Indicators.

Extreme heat - FEMA / Ready.gov has issued before and during tip sheets on extreme heat in anticipation of the record-breaking temps that are expected to grip much of the country. OSHA Training & Temp Workers - In HR Hero, John Hall tackles the issue of OSHA training and temporary workers. Where does the responsibility lie, with the temp agency or the client employer? He notes that OSHA often finds that permanent employees are properly trained as required by a particular standard but their temporary counterparts aren't, which then results in citations and significant penalties. He discusses some of the areas of responsibility that lie with the client employer vs the temp agency. It's an issue worth your attention. Consider the $700,000+ fine for lack of training that OSHA just imposed related to the on-the-job death of a contract worker at Tribe Mediterranean Foods, a Taunton MA subsidiary of Nestle SA. "OSHA's investigation found that Tribe Mediterranean Foods had not trained the deceased worker and six other workers who cleaned plant machinery on hazardous energy control or "lockout/tagout" procedures." OSHA also issued several willful violations, defined as, "... one committed with intentional knowing or voluntary disregard for the law's requirements, or with plain indifference to worker safety and health."

Vuugo Tip: How To Choose Parts For Your Gaming PC | Vuugo ...

2012

A gaming computer, also known as a gaming pc, is a personal computer that is capable of playing computationally and graphically demanding video games. They are very similar to conventional computers with the exception that these machines are fitted with performance-oriented video cards and other hardware. These type of computers can be easily bought in the market but at a much higher price compared to the conventional computers. Since most gamers are both cost and performance conscious, most of them opt to build their own gaming computer rather than buying a built-in gaming computer.

Building your own custom gaming computer simply means you buy all your computer components separately and piece them up together to build your gaming pc. With this method you can achieve a fast and cost-effective gaming computer suited to your own gaming needs. Besides saving a lot of money and having an efficient machine, building your own gaming computer can also be a lot of fun.

How to choose your components?

Perhaps the biggest challenge one can face when building their own gaming computer is choosing the right components for your needs. So without further ado, here is a simple guide in order to help you in building your own gaming computer.

1. Central processing unit (cpu)

The central processing unit (cpu) is one of the most important core components in all computer systems. The cpu is a portion in the system that carries out the instructions of a computer program. In simple terms it could be described as the brains of the computer. The performance of your games and other applications will depend on this microprocessor.

Choosing the best central processing unit (cpu) for your gaming computer can be a hard decision to make. Picking the latest, fastest, or most expensive processor on the market won?t always result in the right cpu for your particular system. Some processors are designed to work with a certain or specific motherboards, thus the cpu type limits the motherboard type you can use.

For a gaming computer, you will really need a powerful cpu for it to performing superbly. Luckily these cpus are supplied by intel and amd (advanced micro devices) at an affordable price.

Intel has the core i7 and core i5 processor models. Currently these models are the most popular ones used for gaming purposes, which are mostly recommended for gaming computers.

Amd, on the other hand, has the athlon and phenom series. If you want to go amd, you can try the most recommended phenom ?4 series.

2. Motherboard

The motherboard is the hub of the computer system. It is where all other components are connected to. If we consider the cpu as the brain of the computer system, then the motherboard is the central nervous system. Thus buying the best motherboard is a good investment.

After choosing your cpu, next you need to consider choosing your motherboard for your gaming computer. When selecting a motherboard, you should remember three things.

First, a motherboard will generally support one type of processor only. Different cpus have different connectors that physically vary with one another, make sure that your cpu plug is suitable to your mother board connector.

Second, motherboards have a certain speed limitation depending on the processor model. Maximum processor speed allowed by the motherboard will be quoted in the motherboard specifications. Before buying, check whether your selected motherboard can support your chosen cpu.

Third, motherboards are the ones who can dictate the type and amount of ram you can have. In a gaming computer, you would want to have either ddr sdram or rdram which is at least 1g worth. So ensure that your motherboard can support this type and amount of memory.

Here are some examples of well-known motherboards manufacturers where you can browse for your perfect gaming motherboard: Asus, Abit, Msi, Xf?, Evga, Intel, and Gigabyte.

3. Hard drive

The hard drive is the computer component responsible for storing your files and programs. When buying a hard drive for your gaming computer, consider these three main features: speed, size, and the type of interface.

[Speed] basically the faster the hard drive spins the fast you are able to access and transfer your data. Currently, the best hard drives in the market these days can have a speed around 7200rpm (rounds per minute). In a gaming computer, you don?t want anything less than this; else it will cause delays between reading and writing data.

Faster hard drives that reach speeds of 10,000rpm and 15,000rpm are available in the market at a higher price. For your gaming computer, a 7200rpm hard drive is already enough for but if you can shell out more money, then you can opt for these faster hard drives.

[Size] hard drives come in different sizes, which can range from 80 GB to 500gb and more. for your gaming computer, it is always recommended that you purchase the largest hard drive you can afford. This will allow you to store lots and lots of software and data (including games).

[Interface] the interface of the hard drive is responsible for managing the exchange of data between a computer and the hard drive. currently, the most commonly used hard drive interface used today is advanced technology attachment (ata); which comes in two forms, the original parallel ata (pata) and the newer and faster serial ata (sata).

There?s also the expensive small computer system interface (scsi) which are used primarily for high-end workstation computer. For you gaming computer, it is sufficient enough to have sata if your motherboard can support it.

The Evolution of the Convertible

Summer is officially here, and with it comes dreams of open-air motoring. Whether it's enjoying a lazy drive on a winding two-lane or cruising to a local drive-in, summer and convertibles go together like lemonade and ice tea.

Today, the market expects the hottest cars to come in a roadster variant, whether you're looking at a fire-breathing Lamborghini Gallardo or a polite Volkswagen Eos. But it wasn't always like this. How did the droptop become the body style of summer? To uncover the answers, we track the evolution of wind-in-your-hair driving back more than a century.

Kathy Caprino: What's in Your God Box?

Last month, I had the deep pleasure of speaking with award-winning women's marketing expert and now playwright, author and actor Mary Lou Quinlan about her new book, play and programs called The God Box Project. I was blessed too to have a personal preview of the power of The God Box: Sharing My Mother's Gift of Faith, Love and Letting Go. I attended Mary Lou's book launch party in New York City and heard her speak firsthand of her mother Mary's transformative ritual of writing notes in which she shared her brief prayers to God on behalf of everyone whom she loved, cared about and wished the best for in her life. Reading the book, I felt changed somehow, reminded of how, when I'm stressed and over-the-top busy as many of us are each day, we move away from the compassion and kindness in our hearts to thinking only of ourselves and our own self-preservation, closing ourselves down from our most loving and caring selves.

About The God Box

As Mary Lou explains, when her beloved mother, Mary Finlayson, died, her family was left bereft -- until Quinlan found her mother's "God Box," or rather, boxes. These simple containers were stuffed with tiny notes written by Mary, asking and praying for everything from the right flooring for her daughter's new home to a cure for her own blood cancer. Mary's petitions are presented with love and without expectation. Note by note, Quinlan unearths insights into her mother's compassion, faith, and perseverance, and revelations of her innermost thoughts -- nostalgic, surprising, and even a bit shocking. And through the journey, the author discovers her own more empathetic, more engaged self -- the woman her mother had believed in all along.

Curious as to Mary Lou's transformation from corporate and entrepreneurial powerhouse focused on helping advertising clients understand the inner thoughts of female consumers, to author and performer who is in essence a spiritual midwife of her mother's lessons in humility, compassion and care, I asked Mary Lou to share about that transition.

Mary Lou explains:

I realize in looking back that my mother supersedes all. In reflecting on my career, I see and appreciate deeply that I built a successful professional life and made my mark in marketing. I believe I followed a path that has been diverse, accomplished, and satisfying. My job as head of my marketing firm Just Ask a Woman (now a division of Mary Lou Quinlan & Co.) was to tell the truth -- the whole truth -- about what women feel and hold inside, and to honor those thoughts and feelings. Perhaps it's the time of my life now where I realize that I am strong enough to speak from my heart, fully myself -- to integrate the various parts of me and tell my own whole truth. The advantage of being an entrepreneur is that I don't answer to anyone -- other than my clients -- and in the end, with my business being about telling the truth about what women feel, why would I draw the line personally about what I deeply feel?
I've always been the same woman at work -- determined, funny, happy, passionate. But certainly in my years in advertising, my job was to win and retain the business of clients and doing so sometimes required of me to draw lines between my personal views and those of my clients. My messages were focused on my clients' interests, not my own. That's the job -- leading an advertising agency means putting my clients' needs first. But when I launched Just Ask a Woman in 1999, I created a company where I started to let my full voice be heard. The next wave of sharing my authentic voice was in 2005 when I wrote my book Time Off for Good Behavior. Telling the truth about women in business and in corporate America rattled cages in a big way. For instance, I shared in the book that it's okay to take a break from your job and do what you need to restore yourself. Sometimes work just isn't enough. And in another book, What She's Not Telling You, I also revealed that women often tell half-truths -- sometimes as a form of defense that keeps women stuck, but also as a way of detouring a probing marketer from getting inside their inner space.

As I've progressed, I've now hit a point where telling my mother's story -- one of spirituality and of practical life lessons, aspiration, love, and even death -- feels right for me. A friend said to me, "This is the job you were meant to grow into. This was meant to be your life."

Women and the Workforce

About women's challenges in the workforce, Mary Lou shared that women's advancement in business remains an uphill climb. Arguments made in the media and by many corporate leaders and managers about how women should behave and advance in business seem to continually force women into narrower and narrower avenues of compliance. Women are told they should network but not just network with women, for instance.

Unfortunately, there's been a focus on what women are not doing correctly. Career paths are not more free-flow as they should be -- they're getting tighter and tighter, and blame keeps falling back on women as to why they haven't advanced, as opposed to our looking at the broader culture, systems and support. I'm all about letting yourself be fully ambitious and internally sound -- not having to make a choice between the two. When do you wake up and say, "This is my life!"? When you retire? That's too late.

The ultimate outcome of The God Box Project, play and programs?

The God Box is a wonderful, sharing, compassionate way to bring hope to your life. It's also a comforting ritual particularly in our world today that feels so worried, tight, negative, divisive. To share something unifying and uplifting is a powerful legacy that I dream of passing on, on Mom's behalf.

My dream is that millions of people around the world -- men and women -- will begin the tradition of The God Box, and find in that little ritual some needed relief, hope, comfort that supports their own beliefs. I believe that The God Box can truly help make a more compassionate, kind and loving world. It also helps us rethink the relationships that were so fundamental in our lives and our upbringing -- our mother-daughter/father-daughter relationships and what they gave us. Reconnecting to our love for our family, and healing what let us down in our family lives, is also an outcome I dream of for The God Box.

To me, Mary Lou offers women the world over a powerful and successful role model for living an authentic, integrated and meaningful professional life. I for one am so grateful for Mary Lou's work -- for giving me a pathway to see and believe that supporting our deeply held spiritual beliefs doesn't have to be something we keep separate from our professional identities. Honoring our full selves and bringing forth our compassionate, loving hearts in both our personal and professional lives will help us heal the world back to health.

Check out The God Box Project.com (and don't miss the new The God Box mobile app on iTunes). Feel how transformational it can be to share your deepest hopes and prayers for yourself and for your loved ones and those you care about.

The planer was attached to the stand, but I barely have enough room to pass gas, so it{the stand} will either be disassembled & stored or passed onto someone who can use it. He had no idea what the clamps were used for, but he picked up both the 32"36"? & the 50" for $5.00..after I explained the clamp uses we decided he should keep one for himself{besides, I told him that I knew where he lived if I needed the larger one }...He wouldn't say what he paid for the planer, he just smiled and said he was still "way ahead"...great to have good neighbors, or good to have great neighbors, either/or, I'm blessed to have quite a few on our little street!

I don't know much about this planer except it works fine, it seems. Though I will be making it a permanent home of some sort with in-feed & out-feed tables, currently set-up, it leaves about 2-3 inches of snipe, but hopefully some fine tuning and the possibility of some of you having a tip or two to share will square away most of the bugs I might encounter.

Anyways...sorry for rambling, I'm still giddy over this....hope you all have a great weekend, and be sure to at least wave hi to your neighbors...you just never know...

Turkey: NATO should view Syria as attacking it

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) ? Turkey said Monday it would push NATO to consider Syria's downing of a Turkish jet as an attack on the whole military alliance.

The announcement came on the eve of a meeting by NATO's governing body to discuss the incident. Despite deep frustration among many NATO countries over the conflict in Syria, where the opposition says President Bashar Assad's crackdown on an increasingly armed popular uprising has killed 14,000 people, it's highly unlikely the military alliance will take armed action against the Arab state.

The unarmed RF-4E reconnaissance jet was shot down a mile (1.6 kilometers) inside international airspace on Friday, and two Turkish pilots are still missing, the Turkish government says. It has insisted the plane was not spying on Syria.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc also said for the first time Monday that Syrian forces had opened ground fire on a CASA search and rescue plane shortly after the downing, but did not say if that plane was hit.

Arinc said Turkey retained its right to "retaliate" against what he called a "hostile act," but he added, "We have no intention of going at war with anyone."

Still, he added that Turkey will push NATO to consider the jet's downing under Article 5 in a key alliance treaty. Article 5 states that an attack against one NATO member shall be considered an attack against all members.

The North Atlantic Council ? which includes ambassadors of the 28 NATO countries ? works by consensus and all members must approve any action. The meeting Tuesday comes after Turkey requested it under Article 4 of the treaty, which allows a NATO ally to request such a consultation if it feels its territorial integrity or security has been threatened.

Asked if Turkey will insist on the activation of Article 5 of NATO, Arinc said, "No doubt, Turkey has made necessary applications with NATO regarding Article 4 and Article 5."

"It should be known that within legality we will of course use all rights granted under international law until the end," Arinc said. "This also includes self-defense. This also includes retaliation many-fold. This includes?all sanctions that can be applied to the aggressor state under international law. Turkey will not leave anything out on this issue. The public should be assured."

The prospect of Western military intervention in Syria remains remote, despite all the tough talk.

Such action is unlikely to get the support of either the U.N. Security Council or the Arab League, and outside intervention without the blessing of both of those bodies is all but unthinkable. And there is little appetite among the NATO countries ? of which the U.S. is the largest ? for another war in the Middle East.

Arinc strongly denied Syrian claims that the downed plane was shot by anti-aircraft fire while flying low inside Syrian airspace. The Syrian government said Monday said the plane was hit by a short-range anti-aircraft gun to prove that the plane was inside Syrian territory.

Arinc, however, said Turkey believed the plane was hit with a laser-guided or heat-guided missile ? capable of hitting the plane in international airspace.

The deputy premier admitted the jet mistakenly strayed into Syrian airspace when it was flying at an altitude of 200 feet and at a speed of 300 knots, but said it left the Syrian airspace after warnings from Turkish radar operators and that it received no warning from Syrian forces during its five-minute flight inside Syrian territory.

"It was hit while flying 13 miles away (from the Syrian coast) at an altitude of 7,400 feet," Arinc said. "It leaned on its left side and fell steeply for four miles toward the east."

Arinc said the plane crashed into Syrian waters and its wreckage is believed to be below 1,000 meters (3,280 feet).

Arinc also said Syria was misleading the world when it says its forces could not recognize the plane until after it was downed.

He said the plane's electronic signals, which indicate if an aircraft is friend or foe, were activated during the entire flight and that Turkey even intercepted radio conversations in which Syrian forces referred to the plane. Arinc did not elaborate, but Hurriyet newspaper, citing intelligence sources, said Monday that Syrian forces referred to the plane using the Turkish word for "neighbor" ? Arinc reiterated Turkey's insistence that the plane was not spying on Syria but just testing Turkey's radar capabilities.

"There is no doubt that Syrians deliberately targeted our plane in international airspace," Arinc said. "It was an extremely hostile action."

He accused Syria of acting in a "cold-blooded" manner.

Fox News Mixes Up Mitch Daniels, Jerry Sandusky

Fox News made a BIG mistake while discussing the Jerry Sandusky trial on Saturday.

While the hosts were explaining the verdict, the network accidentally showed stock footage of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.

"We had a technical problem and we were showing Gov. Mitch Daniels in the video when we were talking about Jerry Sandusky, so we apologize for that," anchor Uma Pemmaraju said.

Sandusky was on Friday found guilty on 45 counts of child abuse. His sentence will be announced within the coming months.

This is hardly Fox's first case of mistaken identity. Last year, the network accidentally aired footage of Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin instead of Palin herself.
